Job Summary
The College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) is seeking applications for a Lecturer I position in the Department of Health and Human Services for the Fall 2024 semester. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching the class, HHS 300, Introduction to Health Policy.
HHS 300 is a hybrid course which combines both in-person and online instruction. In-person/face-to-face class time is scheduled for Thursdays from 3:30 pm-4:45 pm, the remaining instruction will be provided online ? asynchronous.
The Fall 2024 schedule runs from Tuesday, September 3 to December 20, 2024.
HHS 300 - Intro to Health Policy: The aim of this course is to provide students with an overview of the U.S. health care system, its components, and the policy challenges created by its organization. We will focus on the major US governmental and non-governmental political and policy players, health policy institutions and important issues that cut across institutions, including private insurers and the federal/state financing programs (Medicare and Medicaid/SCHIP)
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting all instructional duties of this course including teaching, development of assignments, grading, holding virtual office hours for student support, and maintaining a course page through the Canvas Learning Management System.

Because the fall schedule is published and students have already registered, the selected candidate's availability must align with the existing class schedule.
This course is scheduled as Hybrid (a combination of in-person/face-to-face class time and online instruction) with In-person/face-to-face class time meeting on Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm.
Required Qualifications*
The position requires that the candidate have a MPH degree (or Master's Degree in a related health field) with at least 2 years teaching experience or a PhD in public health or a related field. Preferred qualifications include evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, demonstrated commitment to working towards social justice with diverse groups. The candidate should have a strong knowledge base of US health policy. Candidates with prior teaching experience and positive evaluations are highly desired.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
